I am so excited to share this. I met @katattackphoto about 2.5 years ago in a personal setting. I remember her asking to take my photo and I respectfully declined. I was at a point where while I did love my self, I was not necessarily comfortable in my own skin. Fast fwd to now and this is my first shoot with her. I put myself out there and sometimes get shit for it, but more often I get support, love, encouragement, and hope. I get hope because I hear stories of people saying that I have helped them to be comfortable in their own skin. When people reach out to me it makes me feel so happy and I often cry. It feels so absolutely amazing to know that by traveling the harsh road of learning to love my self that I have helped others. After years of battling my inner demons I can proudly say that I do indeed love every inch of my fat body.
Today I ask all of you to compliment your self, have an hour of me time and maybe do your nails, soak in a relaxing bath, just do something nice for yourself. It starts with the smallest things. Start treating yourself with the respect that you deserve. If you don't respect yourself, no one will. Just remember, if they aren't there to support you and help you on your journey, I would tell then to KISS MY FAT ASS!

Bessie Coleman (1892-1926) was the first African American woman to earn an aviator's license.  Unable to find anyone willing to train a black woman to fly in the US, Bessie learned French so that she could learn to fly in France.  She was the first American of any race or gender to earn an international pilot's license.  

Bessie died at age 34 during a test flight for an exhibition in Jacksonville, Florida.

Bessie is profiled in a Smithsonian Channel documentary entitled Black Wings, which is airing this month.  An excerpt from the documentary can be seen here.  If you are interested in black female pilots, check out the novel Flygirl.

Cake batter Rice Krispie recipe adapted from 365 days of baking.

Ingredients
Rice Krispie Treats

- 6 tbs margarine* (3/4 of a stick) 
- 3/4 cup yellow cake mix 
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract 
- 3 cups Rice Krispies 
- 1/2 10oz bag of marshmallows (5oz) 
- 1 tbs sprinkles 

Buttercream Frosting

- 1/2 cup margarine* (1 stick) - room temperature 
- 2 cups confectioners' sugar 
- 2 tsp vanilla 
- 1 tsp almond milk* 

Instructions 
Melt margarine in the microwave (about 45 seconds). Mix in marshmallows and return to microwave for 30 second intervals, stirring between, until melted. Mix in cake mix and vanilla until combined. Add in sprinkles and 2 cups of Rice Krispies with a spatula. Add in the third cup of Rice Krispies.

Fill each well-greased muffin holder with the Rice Krispie mixture and press it in gently with the back of a spoon. Cool for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

For frosting, cream margarine in stand mixer with paddle attachment, then slowly add in confectioners' sugar until well combined. Mix in vanilla, almond milk and food colouring if desired.

Remove Rice Krispie cupcakes from tin with a knife. Frost and top with sprinkles.

*Butter and regular milk could be substituted for their non-dairy counterparts.
**Makes 24 mini cupcakes. For a 9 x 13" pan, double the recipe.
***Note: Also try this out with a marshmallow cream frosting!
